One of the newest businesses to open in our little town of Franklin is Chic & Shabby. It will be unique to Franklin and a welcomed addition to our downtown area. The official opening is August 1st. But we are in and out setting up, so feel free to stop in and check out the progress.
Chic & Shabby will be open Tuesday – Friday from 10:00am to 5:00pm and Saturdays 10:00 am to 4:00pm. The address is 716 Main Street in Franklin and the phone number is
337-578-1828.
Owner/operator of Chic & Shabby is Betty Veeder of Franklin.
So far we have eight vendors. Myself, Becky Smith, Pam Hefner, Rocky Ruddock, Gail Drinkwater, Jody Veeder, Sandy McClelland/Diane Chauvin and Julie Berenger.
Giggles & Bows gift shop will also be reopening inside Chic & Shabby.
Each vender will have a booth set up in the store. Vendors will carry antiques, furniture, household goods, flea market items, gifts and more.
The store was at one time Teche Ridge office supplies and also a pawn shop which was run by Franklin’s beloved Earl Veeder. Since Earl’s passing, son, Jody ran Teche Ridge Audio from the store for a time. Betty had a dream to do something with the store that would better our downtown area and when she heard that Diane and Gary Wiltz purchased the building across the street and decided to turn that into an antique mall, what better time to open than now.
Along with our local visitors benefiting from having a new place to shop, our hope is that having the two stores added to our precious downtown Franklin, we will attract tourists who will then visit our other downtown businesses and restaurants.
Here is a sneak peek of what’s set up already. More to come!!
