Why I chose Heirloom Traditions Paint Company
Chic & Shabby Collections opened in July of 2015 here in our little town of Franklin, Louisiana. It is an antique/gift shop. The store is located on our Main Street in the heart of our historic downtown. When I heard that Betty Veeder was starting this business, I knew I wanted to be a part of it so I applied to have a booth there. I was one of the first to move in. I had been looking for a new creative outlet and this was it!
My first day. I even had walls built. I was so excited for this new venture.
This is what it looked like the first time it was open to the public.
I started with some of my photography, vintage items and furniture. I painted some of the pieces. I was asked by the shop owner and some of my customers if I would carry a line of chalk type paint. I began my search by sending email inquiries to about 5 companies. All of them had pros and cons but when I talked to Paula Blankenship with Heirloom Traditions, I knew which one to go with. To start off, Paula is there for you from day one. If I called her she took my call, if I sent her an email, she responded right away. The products are made in the USA which was a must for me. The paint is low in v.o.c.’s, is water based, easy to clean and goes on like butta! You can’t beat the huge selection of colors and creative products this line has to offer. There is no need for sanding or priming and will adhere to almost every surface imaginable. When I asked some of the other companies about retailer training they would tell me sure come here to the company and we will show you how to use the paint. Heirloom Traditions puts on an amazing retailer seminar once per year with speakers and demonstrations. Throughout the year they also do one day retailer trainings there in Kentucky. Paula wants to make sure that her retailers have all the training and inspiration they need. She set up a face book page for retailers so we can share our painted treasures, our successes and failures, ideas and any questions we might have. We are all set up with affiliate links so that if our customers want to order online we are credited.
This was my first shipment of product.
I do workshops at Chic & Shabby to teach our customers how to use the products.
Here are a few shots of the retailer seminar in Louisville, Kentucky that I attended in 2014. To see more pics and get more details about the trip, click here–>My trip to Louisville, Kentucky. I missed the training in 2015 but I will definitely be at the one this year!
This is the lovely creative director of Heirloom Traditions herself, Paula Blankenship and of course, me!!
I also got to meet the fabulous Allison of Refunk My Junk, Chantel of Royal Treasure in Baton Rouge, (Louisiana retailer) Jerri of Le Cadeau Antique Market (Louisiana retailer in Lafayette), Debi of Debi’s Design Diary and Callie of Bayou Junkin Girls (Louisiana retailer in Thibodeaux).
Back at Chic & Shabby I now have two spaces. One for my photography. I also use it when I have extra furniture.
And one for Heirloom Traditions products and furniture.
I love what I do! Blogging, taking pictures, painting furniture, working with women and working with others to better our community.
